What do you think of Sarah Palin?

I am still trying to get to know who Sarah Palin is. In this phase of the process, the VP’s sole job is to get the presidential candidate elected. One of the main considerations when picking a VP is often to bring in voters that the presidential candidate can’t or to round out his campaign.
Why is she good for McCain?
Well, McCain turned off many conservatives that went straight to Romney. Palin’s stance on gay marriage, capital punishment, abortion and gun control will appeal to many of those conservatives.
I think being female helps to get the consideration of women that might have voted for Clinton and it also partially neutralizes the historic impact of Obama getting elected. Palin does have great appeal and this could be an asset to McCain.
Why she might be a bad choice
She doesn’t have a long political life not that it matters anymore to some people. She’s been governor less than two years and doesn’t have much of a track record.
Palin being from Alaska results in her not bringing in a lot of automatic votes from her state. Most people had never even heard of Palin until now. Palin has to work on connecting with the public in the timeframe that she has.
I think the debates will be interesting

I am not much into politics, but Palin has peaked my interest here. I too wonder if she has the experience warranted for the job; but I think I will be doing more research on what she is about just because I like the idea of having a strong intelligent female’s perspective in the white house.

Sarah P. is a narcissistic ego driven evangelical who believes women have no right to use birth control or have abortions. She believes the war in Iraq is God’s will - do we want someone with voices in her head a heartbeat away from the Presidency? She banned books, she abused the power of her office to get people fired and is under investigation for ethics violations. This junk belongs in jail. She is a criminal and possibly has a personality disorder. She appeals to the lowest common denominator…those who can’t get past photo ops and hype. She’s a con artist.

Ann - the ethics issue is also a problem for me too. As far at the “banning of books” does anyone know what books?

I think it’s great to really check out your candidates, especially the VP if the possible “P” is as old as McCain.
Palin is not going to appeal to any real Hilary followers though (only naive ones who would vote based solely on the fact she is a woman). Hilary stood for choice, Palin stands for no-choice and abstinence. That one issue alone is too significant for many Hilary followers to suddenly change their mind, let alone the MANY other significant concerns with Palin as a politician.

She made me want to throw things at the TV. Hmm. I think that sums it up pretty well.

Thinking of her in office, as unprepared as she is, (even though her state is the closest one to Russia) makes my gag reflexes kick in. Oh my, how stupid can we get!?!

Just watch her interview with “Charlie” Gibson. Despite the fact that she is the mother of 5, with a few little ones, a preganant teenage daughter and a baby with downs syndrom, despite the fact that she traveled by plane to do a speech in her 9th month of pregnancy, with a baby that already had special needs, and she was in labor (she could have jeopardized her life as well as her baby’s…poor judgment) despite the fact that she has only be governor for not even 1 full term in the smallest of the smallest states, despite the fact that she is under investigation for ethics charges, despite the fact that you can see russia from her house, THE WOMAN DOESN’T KNOW MUCH OF ANYTHING THAT SHE WOULD NEED TO KNOW TO BE IN THE WHITE HOUSE. Again, just watch her interview with “Charlie” Gibson.
